Welcome to AGMA Global.

AGMA, the Alliance for Gray Market and Counterfeit Abatement, is a unique alliance of intellectual property (IP) rights holders, with members’ combined annual revenues in excess of $425 billion, who recognize that IP protection is a fundamental element of innovation and economic growth. AGMA’s members are some of the most innovative technology companies in the world, investing millions of dollars in local economies and developing branded products trusted by billions of people.

aboutUs-photo1.jpgBuilding on the extensive knowledge of our members, AGMA further develops IP protection concepts, educating the industry, law, policymakers, and consumers to transform these concepts into best practices. These best practices can be used to combat four distinct threats to the high-tech industry: (1) gray marketing; (2) counterfeiting; (3) service and warranty fraud; and (4) unauthorized use and/or distribution of IP in a digital format (digital IP).

Since its incorporation in 2001 by 3Com, Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, and Xerox, AGMA has participated at many industry conferences, raising awareness and educating the industry on the serious issues of gray market and counterfeit technology - and the impact on consumers and the high-tech industry as a whole. AGMA has submitted testimony for a Congressional hearing on the economic impact of gray marketing and counterfeiting and has steadily and continuously grown its membership base.

aboutUs-photo2.jpgAGMA focuses on raising awareness on related issues by sharing our studies and best practices, and by providing a platform for open sharing of information.

We extend a personal invitation to high-tech companies in areas such as information technology, software, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, and telecommunications to join AGMA members in our efforts as we continue to build one of the leading technology industry alliances.

Our Mission

AGMA’s primary focus is on industry and public education, sharing and developing best practices to effectively hinder threats to intellectual property and render these activities more difficult, undesirable and unprofitable. AGMA’s role is to present members and the industry with strategic ideas for addressing key IP protection issues, and to introduce better controls or processes in mitigating threats to IP.

Membership in AGMA provides access to important programs, strategies and tools for combating gray marketing and counterfeiting of branded products, service and warranty fraud and protection of IP in a digital format.
